Sleep Apnea : Case Study – Second opinion
Posted on 06. Dec, 2009 by admin in Problems and Pitfalls of Identifying Sleep Apnea
Mr. Roberts was told that sleep apnea was the cause of his snoring and progressive fatigue. He had gained weight, so he was put on a weight loss program and referred to a surgeon for UPPP surgery.
He obtained a second opinion at an accredited sleep center, and physical examination found that he had low thyroid activity. Treatment eliminated his fatigue. He quickly lost the extra weight, which had also been caused by his thyroid disorder, and his apnea then disappeared.
